Vester’s Archive of the history of German pharmacies: A digital repository

Vester’s Archive of the History of German Pharmacies is kept at the University Institute for History, Theory, and Ethics of Medicine in Düsseldorf. This collection of questionnaires is the life’s work of the pharmacist Dr Helmut Vester (1913-2001). It is a unique resource especially for biographical data mining. This collection also mirrors scientific, economic, and social changes affecting the pharmaceutical profession. The authors are currently cataloguing and partially digitising this collection in a project funded by the German Research Foundation. For the encoding of the historical and biographical data and metadata, the project uses the infrastructure of the internet portal Kalliope.
